ThIs place filled right up at around 7:30 on a Friday night when we went. I loved that they played authentic music (so key). I had never had Ethiopian food before so we ordered the Sambusa’s for an appetizer and two meat/6 vegetable platter for two. I LOVED IT. It was so fun to eat with my hands and all of the flavors were great, paired well together and written too overwhelming. We ordered the chicken and the lamb, and the vegetables were chefs choice – lentils, chickpeas, collard greens, beets, cabbage and carrots. I definitely would go back again.
I LOVED this place- we got the sampler to share so that I could try everything, and I thought it all tasted fantastic. My favorite was the lamb, but everything else was a close second. I don’t think there are many Ethiopian places in Manhattan, but this one is worth the trip uptown.

The place is cozy and quiet; perfect for a date night or just a small group dinner. The prices are reasonable for the area. The food and service were excellent and fast.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night and couldn’t have been more happy to have been introduced to this wonderful place.
Not only is the food delicious, the ambiance could not have been any more enjoyable. What differentiates this establishment from others is simply the fact that when we dined here – not only was it an enjoyable, it was inviting and truly a warm experience. We felt at home and that’s why we all willl be returning to awash soon!
